Coach Katie Larder

 Katie joined Easter Michigan University's Rowing team as a walk on in her freshman year. After her novice year, she was placed in the first varsity 8 and held that position for three years. Her boat was able to win several medals. In Katie's sophomore year, she received the "most improved" medal from Eastern Michigan University.  During her sophomore year, she broke the 2K record at Eastern and she also broke the 6K in her junior year.  The summer before her senior year, she attended the National Team Development Camp under the direction of Coach Bebe Bryons in Madison, Wisconsin.  Katie received the Collegiate Rowing Coaching Association’ second team all region award in her senior year.  She was also a scholar athlete at EMU for three years, and a CRCA National Scholar Athlete in her senior year.

Katie continues to coach and compete at the Ann Arbor Rowing Club as she has for the past two years.

Katie graduated in April 2008 from Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. She is currently attending graduate school at EMU and working on a MA in Applied Research in Sociology. She is also employed as a graduate assistant at EMU. 

Katie is enjoying her second season as a coach for Saline Crew.  Katie says, " It is nice to be re-united with Sam Murphy who was my 'coxie' at Eastern for two years."
